    Group Plot Synopsys

    Basis of the film
A seventeen year old boy named Morgan suffers from depression, paranoia and anxiety. His parents got divorced around 2 years ago and since then his mental health has spiralled. His parents constantly have a go at one another, trying to get the upper hand. They don't pay their son any attention what so ever, they have not noticed him deteriorate, month after month, day after day. The first people to notice his deterioration is the teacher at school who notices his grades slipping, usually he is an intelligent pupil who always gets good grades. She brings him in for a chat about his grades and she attempts to suggest ways in which he can get himself back on track.

What the teacher does not know however is that Morgan is a victim of bullying, the bully is called Zac who is the main bully out of the group of bullies. Every night Morgan receives horrifying messages not only from Zac but from the rest of the group too via social media. He sits on his bedroom floor staring at his laptop screen reading them, day after day for hours and hours. Not knowing what he has done to deserve such horrible messages. His school and home life has changed so much compared to how his life used to be and he is struggling to cope with it. He turns to self half as a way of coping, he isolates himself and begins to despise school which he always used to enjoy. He used to have a circle of friends, he used to enjoy going to school and seeing them, he liked to complete work. But now he hates it, he hates it all.

Morgan has a friend, an imaginary friend. This friend encourages Morgan to retaliate against these bullies, he should not let them walk all over him, he should retaliate. No one knows about this friend that Morgan has, only him. Each night when Morgan receives messages and he stares at the screen angry, annoyed and upset. At one point it gets so bad that he tries taking his own life by over dossing. But things change when he begins to retaliate, by words and words only. No physical harm is done. The teachers are still concerned about the state in which Morgan is in, and it gets all too much for him and he reveals what has been happening in his life. They arrange for a psychiatrist to help him, after a few months of Morgan going to a psychiatrist his grades begin to get back to how they used to be, and he is much more content.

    Changes

    • Morgan will now be physically bullied instead of it only being cyber bullied.
    • He will also retaliate to the bullies, killing Zac where he then has a guilty conscience due to what he has done.
    • He tries to commit suicide because of his actions but his imaginary friend stops him from doing this.

    Group Editing Practice

As a group using various clips the class had created, we created a practise trailer in the editing suite. The whole group took turns to use the software and created our own storyline. This allowed us to practise co-operating as a group as well as time keeping. Our storyline was based on a murder in a secondary school which is reveals in various shots. Personally I believe as a group we worked well and I am pleased with the overall outcome of the practice trailer.

    Teenage Mental Health Research

Due to basing my individual and group plot synopsis on the sensitive topic of mental health, I have decided to research information about teenage mental health in the UK. This will help me as an individual to not offend or worry individuals during our trailer.

    Individual Plot Synopsis

Psychological thrillers can be influenced by various mental illnesses such as split personalities, schizophrenia and depression.
The target audience of the film would be young adults ranging between 16-25 years old. The film would also be mainly targeted towards a female audience due to the lack of physical violence between characters.

    Plot:
Set in the present day in a small town, a youthful group of four teenage girls between the ages of 14-16 years old, live their ordinary lives. Mainly focusing on school life and friendships, a quiet and shy teen named Anna from the close group is revealed as an outsider due to verbal bullying from the group’s leader Molly which is also followed by other members of the friendship circle. Viscous comments focusing on weight, status and intelligence leads the young girl to distance herself from others and punish herself through self-harm.  This goes unseen by her divorced parents due to their ongoing conflict which makes the character feel forgotten and unloved.
Her silent suffering is unseen by the close community she lives in and the bullying carries on. Molly, who is physically more mature than her class mates as well as plastered in heavy make-up, carries on bullying the vulnerable character and begins to physically hurt her ‘friend.’
After the build-up of anger inside the victim, she is unable to take the suffering of her parents as well as the group of girls in her school and begins to plan her pay back. Through revenge fuelled by her hurt, the young girl attempts to take each bully down one by one. Influenced by voices in her head, the teenager is playing mind tricks on the main bully. By posting letters and using fake social media profiles. The victim attempts to weaken the bully and ruin her happiness. The victim’s paranoia and depression is unnoticed and uncontrolled which leads the teen to danger to herself and others.
Fuelled by the voices in her head, Anna is unsafe and feels worthless which leads to attempting suicide through an overdose of her Mum’s prescription drugs. The youthful girl is unaware of her desperate silent cry for help and keeps hurting herself physically and mentally due to feeling alone and to blame for illness.
Her school attempt to give her help due to having a large concern about her unproductive and slow learning as well as her attempt of suicide, she is given counselling to help her mental health. Building a strong bond with her councillor. She finally begins to see the light at the end of tunnel and feels like someone cares about her due to the lack of attention she receives from her parents. She apologises to the bullies in which she played revenge on and with the help of her councillor fights each demon one by one and mentally becomes happier and healthier.
